First phase done; work continues on additional projects to enhance growing Mequon sports club. Elite Expansion Moving Forward Elite Sports Clubs recently completed work on the first phase of a multi-million-dollar expansion of its Mequon, WI club. Work continues on a variety of other projects that will both enhance and expand the 70,000 square-foot club located at 11616 North Port Washington Road. Elite Sports Clubs recently conducted an open house to show off its new improvements and the other projects that should be done just before the start of summer. The improvements and renovations are apparent as one pulls onto the drive into the club. The front entrance has been moved to the north side of the building where visitors enter a brand new atrium and lobby that includes a check-in station. The improvements include brand-new locker rooms for men and women, each featuring a dry sauna and a steam room; a full-size gym and kids' gym; an interactive E-Zone that features bikes connected to video screens, dance simulation games and a skateboarding game. Work just started on the second phase, which will include a spin studio and a cardio theater room with projection TVs. Construction is already under way on three indoor pools. There will be a 25-yard pool for lap swimming and exercise, an instructional warm-water pool and a 12-person whirlpool. There also will be two pools—another wider 25-yard pool and a kids pool that will be built adjacent to a barbecue area. All of the pools will be filled with salt water, which is healthier and more natural than chlorine. Dave Bradshaw, chief executive officer of Elite Sports Clubs, said work on the pools should be complete by the first week in June. He stressed that the renovations and additions will add to the family-friendly nature of the club, which also has six tennis courts. Elite Sports Clubs also has two locations in Brookfield and one in Glendale.
